Stephen Lang has read the script for Don’t Breathe 2

I'm really surprised that director/co-writer Fede Alvarez and producer Sam Raimi are letting so much time pass between the release of their collaboration DON'T BREATHE and the production of the sequel that they've been talking about ever since DON'T BREATHE reached theatres. It's been three years since the movie came out, and three years since Raimi said Alvarez's idea for a DON'T BREATHE 2 was "only the greatest idea for a sequel I've ever heard."

While doing press for THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER'S WEB last year, Alvarez confirmed that 

we do have a script for DON'T BREATHE 2 that we wrote. Once I’m done with (THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER'S WEB) we’re gonna start thinking of ways to bring that story to the screen. Me directing or me producing. It really depends on the time that we’ll have. I’m particularly excited about that because it’s a really different sequel, when it comes to sequels. It’s a very different approach and I’m excited about that."

But that's the last we heard of the sequel. Even if it were to go into production tomorrow, it wouldn't reach theatres until four years after its predecessor. At this point, there may be people who were looking forward to DON'T BREATHE 2 who are starting to lose interest. While Raimi did manage to stretch the EVIL DEAD franchise out over 40 years, there is something to be said for striking while the iron's hot.

At least Alvarez isn't just keeping the sequel script to himself. Speaking with Josh Millican of Dread Central, DON'T BREATHE star Stephen Lang said, 

I’ve read the screenplay [for DON'T BREATHE 2], and it’s really good!"

Lang wouldn't give any details beyond saying the script is "really good". But it's nice to know he has read it and knows what his character the Blind Man will be doing if he ever returns to the screen. 

I think it's about time Alvarez and Raimi start working to bring him back to the screen.

Starring Lang, Jane Levy, Dylan Minnette, and Daniel Zovatto, the first DON'T BREATHE has the following synopsis: 

Rocky, Alex and Money are three Detroit thieves who get their kicks by breaking into the houses of wealthy people. Money gets word about a blind veteran who won a major cash settlement following the death of his only child. Figuring he's an easy target, the trio invades the man's secluded home in an abandoned neighborhood. Finding themselves trapped inside, the young intruders must fight for their lives after making a shocking discovery about their supposedly helpless victim.

Nobody has ever given information on what the great idea for the sequel is.
