Stephen King is hot right now, with IT: CHAPTER II being a blockbuster success, THE OUTSIDER getting a second season on HBO, and a big-budget THE STAND remake for CBS All Access on the way. Now you can add a THE GIRL WHO LOVED TOM GORDON film adaptation to the growing list (which includes another adaptation of FIRESTARTER as well). It will be adapted by Christy Hall, the co-creator of Netflix's I AM NOT OKAY WITH THIS, which was based on a comic-book of the same name about "a teenage girl navigating the trials and tribulations of high school, all the while dealing with the complexities of her family, her budding sexuality, and mysterious superpowers just beginning to awaken from deep within her."
Meanwhile, Stephen King's THE GIRL WHO LOVED TOM GORDON novel is about
12-year-old Trisha McFarland who strays from the path while she and her recently divorced mother and brother take a hike along a branch of the Appalachian Trail. Lost for days, wandering farther and farther astray, Trisha has only her portable radio for comfort. A huge fan of Tom Gordon, a Boston Red Sox relief pitcher, she listens to baseball games and fantasizes that her hero will save her. Nature isn’t her only adversary, though – something dangerous may be tracking Trisha through the dark woods.
So what do you guys think? Fans of the book? If so, how do you feel about it becoming a movie? Either way, sound off below!
