Based on the short story of the same name by Stephen King which was first published in Cavalier magazine, and later collected in King's NIGHT SHIFT, director Ralph S. Singleton's GRAVEYARD SHIFT with Kelly Wolf, Stephen Macht, and Brad Dourif is a fun hidden gem of our beloved genre.
And today we learned that our buddies over at Scream Factory will unleash Stephen King's GRAVEYARD SHIFT on Blu-ray this July! Extras are in progress and will be announced on a later date. That said, you can check out the killer (if well-worn) cover art below.
Rated R for adult situations/language, nudity, and violence, it centers on
John Hall (David Andrews), a drifter who wanders into a small town in Maine. He needs a job and decides to seek employment at the community's top business: a large textile mill. He is hired to work the "graveyard shift" — from around midnight to dawn — and, along with a few others, he is charged with cleaning out the basement. This task strikes the workers as simple enough, but then, as they proceed deeper underground, they encounter an unspeakable monstrosity intent on devouring them all.
GRAVEYARD SHIFT is directed by Ralph S. Singleton from a screenplay by John Esposito based on the short story by Stephen King. Paramount Pictures unleashed it back on October 26, 1990. It stars David Andrews as John Hall with Kelly Wolf as Jane Wisconsky and Stephen Macht as Warwick. Andrew Divoff joins them as Danson along with Vic Polizos as Brogan and Brad Dourif as Tucker Cleveland. Scream Factory will unleash Stephen King's GRAVEYARD SHIFT on Blu-ray on July 28, 2020.
