The IT movie is still a few months away and we’ve gotten several looks at the titular killer clown (Bill Skarsgard) as well as the cast of youngsters whom he will instill nightmares in. We haven’t see footage though, but apparently we’re the only ones because IT author, Stephen King, has seen a cut of the movie and wants us to know he likes what he’s seen.
Taking to his Instagram account recently, producer and author of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE WITH ZOMBIES, Seth Grahame-Smith, posted a picture relaying Mr. King’s message about what he thought of the cut, saying the production has “done a wonderful job.”
King has notably been critical of some of his book’s adaptations in the past, such as Stanley Kubrick’s THE SHINING. He hated where the famed director took the material, despite the fact the movie is a beloved horror classic. This may nullify the author’s opinions on movies till the end of time for some, but fans of the writer will probably find solace in his kind words toward the upcoming flick, especially if they’ve been unsure how it would turn out.
King’s words provide me with some comfort, considering he probably wouldn’t have said anything at all if it were terrible. But I still need to see some footage before I can have a real opinion on this project. I need to see where director Andrés Muschietti is taking this so I can feel whether it has the potential to scare the holy hell out of me. I mean, I know it will, I'm just trying to hide my fear so people don't know I'm a giant baby…which I know isn't working.
IT arrives September 8.
