Stephen King explains why you should be watching NOS4A2

We've already let you guys know that author Stephen King thinks AMC's 10-part adaptation of his son Joe Hill's 2013 novel NOS4A2 is "balls to the wall scary." But today the Master of Horror gives us some further insights into why we should be watching the series if we aren't already.

King took to Twitter to say:

NOS4A2: Scary? Yes. Involving? Yes. But it's also doing something network TV can't or won't do–showing working-class people doing their jobs and trying their damndest (sometimes failing) to be decent. The best horror stories are firmly wedded to real life.

STAR TREK and AMERICAN HORROR STORY actor Zachary Quinto stars as the ancient, supernaturally powered Charlie Manx who is described as having the ability to periodically rejuvenate by feeding on the life forces of children as he transports them to a fantasy world he created called Christmasland. Here's the rundown on the book via Amazon:

NOS4A2 is a spine-tingling novel of supernatural suspense from master of horror Joe Hill, the New York Times bestselling author of Heart-Shaped Box and Horns. Victoria McQueen has a secret gift for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. On her Raleigh Tuff Burner bike, she makes her way to a rickety covered bridge that, within moments, takes her wherever she needs to go, whether it’s across Massachusetts or across the country. Charles Talent Manx has a way with children. He likes to take them for rides in his 1938 Rolls-Royce Wraith with the NOS4A2 vanity plate. With his old car, he can slip right out of the everyday world, and onto the hidden roads that transport them to an astonishing – and terrifying – playground of amusements he calls “Christmasland.” Then, one day, Vic goes looking for trouble—and finds Manx. That was a lifetime ago. Now Vic, the only kid to ever escape Manx’s unmitigated evil, is all grown up and desperate to forget. But Charlie Manx never stopped thinking about Victoria McQueen. He’s on the road again and he’s picked up a new passenger: Vic’s own son.

The series was created by Jami O'Brien. Quinto's costars include Ashleigh Cummings as Vic McQueen, Olafur Darri Olafsson as Bing Partridge, Virginia Kull as Linda McQueen, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Chris McQueen, Jahkara Smith as Maggie Leigh, Karen Pittman as Angela Brewster, Rarmian Newton as Drew, and Ashley Romans as Tabitha Hutter. NOS4A2 is now airing over on AMC. Pick up a copy of Joe Hill's book HERE.
