You know the name, and you know the brand he built, but do you know the man that is Bill Gates? You may soon realize you know precious little about him outside of his work building and growing Microsoft, but the new docu-series from Netflix, INSIDE BILL’S BRAIN: DECODING BILL GATES, offers a fascinating look at the complicated man behind the name. The three-part series will screen as part of the Telluride Film Festival over the weekend, all before hitting the streaming service on September 20.

Based on the trailer, the series doesn’t seem like it will focus too much on Gates’ past, wherein he built Microsoft into the giant it is today and forever changed how we exist in the world. Instead, it seems to center on him and his wife Melinda’s work with their foundation, and how Bill is constantly working to change the world in more ways than one. That offers a riveting glimpse inside the mind of a man who tries to remain private and can't seem to stop working, even though it does remains to be seen just how candid he will get about everything else in his life.
Still, at the start of the doc, we see director Davis Guggenheim (AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH) interviewing Gates about all sorts of mundane, yet enlightening topics. We learn Gates’ favorite animal is dogs, he loves hamburgers and that he apparently doesn’t eat breakfast. I mean…I’m sure it will get a bit more interesting later in the series.

Here’s the synopsis:
“After stepping down as CEO of Microsoft, Gates began what is undeniably one of the greatest professional second acts in modern history when he shifted his time and considerable intellect toward solving some of the world’s most persistent problems. The series, in-depth and unfiltered in its depiction of a man’s life journey, both his triumphs and setbacks, offers unprecedented access to Gates as he pursues unique solutions to some of the world’s most complex problems with the same level of optimism, curiosity, and fervor that inspired his original vision for Microsoft.”
