Sure, we've got THE LEGO MOVIE 2: THE SECOND PART on the way, but you know all the cool kids will be holding out for the sweet bliss which is PLAYMOBIL: THE MOVIE, a project which I had completely forgotten about until just this second. You can check out the trailer for yourself and come to your own conclusions, but if I'm being perfectly honest, it doesn't look as bad as I thought it would be. To clarify, although it doesn't look as bad as I thought it would be, it also doesn't look to be quite on the same level as LEGO.
That said, PLAYMOBIL: THE MOVIE does sport more than a few recognizable names, including Anya Taylor-Joy (GLASS), Daniel Radcliffe (SWISS ARMY MAN), Jim Gaffigan (CHAPPAQUIDDICK), Meghan Trainor (SMURFS: THE LOST VILLAGE), Adam Lambert (American Idol), Kenan Thompson (Saturday Night Live), and Gabriel Bateman (CHILD'S PLAY). The film finds Marla (Taylor-Joy) heading into the magical, animated universe of Playmobil in order to retrieve her younger brother Charlie (Bateman). Once there, she sets off on a fantastic journey across stunning new worlds, meeting up with new friends along the way and screaming at her newly plastic existence. Business as usual.
