Expected to debut on Starz this fall, the ASH VS. EVIL DEAD series is one of the upcoming horror projects I'm most highly anticipating, and I know a lot of you reading this feel the same way about it. To whet our appetites, Starz has released a short new teaser for the show, one which gives us a glimpse of an old friend.
Set to run for ten half-hour episodes, the first season of ASH VS. EVIL DEAD stars Bruce Campbell, returning to the role of EVIL DEAD/ARMY OF DARKNESS hero Ash Williams, Lucy Lawless as the mysterious Ruby, Ray Santiago as Ash's sidekick Pablo Simon Bolivar, Dana DeLorenzo as moody wild child Kelly Maxwell, Mimi Rogers as Kelly's mom Suzy, and Jill Marie Jones as disgraced Michigan State Trooper Amanda Fisher.
Synopsis:
Campbell reprises his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.
Sam Raimi is directing the first episode from a script he wrote with Ivan Raimi and Tom Spezialy. He also serves as executive producer alongside Rob Tapert, Bruce Campbell, and showrunner Craig DiGregorio. Aaron Lam and Chloe Smith are producing, with Ivan Raimi as co-executive producer.
