A new TV spot for INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE has dropped and honestly, it's the first one that has convinced me that the film might not be a massive misstep. Full of Roland Emmerich's typical over-the-top bombast, this thirty second spot is actually – dare I say it – kind of fun. We get some new footage (including a look at a pissed-off alien queen) but for me the real clincher is that deliciously plum dialogue about the Atlantic Ocean. Check out the teaser below!
Directed by Emmerich, who co-wrote with Dean Devlin, James Vanderbilt, James A. Woods, and Nicolas Wright, INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE has the following synopsis:
We always knew they were coming back. After INDEPENDENCE DAY redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens' advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.
Bill Pullman, Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Vivica A. Fox, Judd Hirsch, Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Liam Hemsworth, Joey King, Maika Monroe, Sela Ward, DeObia Oparei, William Fichtner, and Jessie Usher star.
RESURGENCE will be in theatres on June 23rd, just in time for, you know, Independence Day.
