It's a good day to be a STAR WARS fan if you've been anticipating the latest video game to come from the franchise. The first trailer for Star Wars: Squadrons has dropped and developer Motive Studios for EA, has released a slew of other details about the upcoming release.
Star Wars: Squadrons will arrive on October 2, 2020, and will be available for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game will feature both a single-player campaign and multiplayer and it will additionally include cross-play between all of the aforementioned platforms. Star Wars: Squadrons will be a first-person dogfighting video game and is set after the events of the RETURN OF THE JEDI.
Taking place after the events of EPISODE VI puts the game in line with many other multimedia properties that explore the time between that trilogy and 2015's THE FORCE AWAKENS. In addition to the game's timeline, it was also revealed that Star Wars: Squadrons will support virtual reality headsets on both Playstation 4 and PC.
While today's trailer does show off what we have in store from the release, serious gameplay is expected to feature later this week at EA Play 2020 on June 18th. Star Wars: Squadrons first leaked last week via the official Xbox site before being confirmed later that day. Here is how EA describes the game on its official website:
"Master the art of starfighter combat in the authentic piloting experience Star Wars: Squadrons. Buckle up, feel the adrenaline of the first-person multiplayer space dogfights alongside your squadron, and learn what it means to be a pilot in a thrilling Star Wars single-player story."
Star Wars: Squadrons drops on October 2, 2020, for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC and will run for the suggested retails price of $39.99.
