People often say that what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, though I'm not certain if that mantra holds true for when a Star Wars VR Experience rolls the dice. The location-based VR startup ,The Void, is preparing to launch two new locations: Void Experience Centers in the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian in Las Vegas as well as in the Glendale Galleria in Glendale, CA in early 2018.
Soon, both locations will house the Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire VR Experience, which will allow fans of the iconic space saga to be transported into the Star Wars Universe for a one-of-a-kind experience worthy of any member of the rebel alliance. Participants will be given customized VR headsets, and will then be directed to a stage that includes walls, doors and props that can be explored without being hindered by equipment cords or computer terminals.
Previously, The Void had brought the Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire experience to London in addition to Orlando, Florida. The immersive setup, developed by The Void and Lucasfilm ILMxLAB, has already become a major hit with Star Wars fans who've been fortunate enough to go hands-on with the tech. In addition to the two new locations, The Void's setup will also become a part of Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif. in January.
When establishing the Vegas and Glendale locations, The Void joined forces with GGP, a retail real estate company that owns and operates more than 120 malls and shopping centers across the U.S. In talking about the expansion into the Vegas and Glendale areas, The Void CEO Cliff Plumer stated the following, “As we continue on our mission to bring immersive and interactive entertainment to a broad consumer audience, partnering with GGP creates the perfect opportunity to expand our network,”
You can guarantee that this event is going to be packed with Star Wars fans who're looking to enjoy the unique experiece, so be sure to book your appointment to try Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire in advance by visiting The Void's website early.
Personally, I'm a big fan of VR. While i've never been fortunate enough to sample The Void's wares, i'd imagine that implimenting a stage setup will only serve to heighten the experience for fans of the franchise. If you get the chance to check out the event, be sure to drop us a line and tell us about your time with Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire.
