The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass creator Mike Flanagan had a starling revelation the other morning. After being woken from slumber by an earthquake, he began thinking that he’d like to make a Star Wars horror movie. The science fiction series set in a galaxy far, far away has yet to venture into the horror genre where the films and TV series are concerned, but perhaps Flanagan is the creator to make that happen?
“Got woken up by the earthquake this morning, sat there for a few minutes just thinking ‘I’d really love to make a horror movie in the Star Wars universe,’” Flanagan wrote on Twitter.

Flanagan’s thoughts about making a Star Wars horror movie were immediately supported by fans and celebrities alike. Elijah Wood responded to Flanagan’s tweet by saying “Yes please,” while Rahul Kohli said “Ohhhhhhh you’ve been reading my diary,” and then posted a sick image of an undead Storm Trooper.
You can check out Kohli’s tweet below, which includes the grizzly image of a Storm Trooper who looks as if he’s been attacked by an angry Rancor.

While I would jump at the chance to watch a Flanagan-helmed Star Wars horror movie, I wonder if Disney and Lucasfilm have the stones to let Flanagan play in their coveted universe. Undead Jedi warriors and possessed Padawans aren’t exactly family-friendly, you know? Plus, Flanagan has several projects keeping him busy for the next little while. He’s currently hard at work on an adaptation of Christopher Pike’s The Midnight Club for Netflix with filming set to begin early next year. He’s also announced an eight-episode adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s The Fall of the House of Usher.
Would you be game for a Star Wars horror movie crafted by Mike Flanagan? What do you think the plot would be? I have a few ideas, but I’m not about to give away the goods. I love the idea of Flanagan creating a Star Wars horror movie. Anything to shake that universe up a bit, right? You can make the obvious stuff too, but variety is the spice of life, my friends. C’mon Disney, let Flanagan get spicy, you cowards!
