Star Wars: Galaxy of Adventures trailer puts animated spin on original films

Over the past forty years, generations of families have been introduced to the STAR WARS franchise and have fallen in love with Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, and the hundreds of other characters who fill the beloved movies. I've seen it play out many times with my own friends and family as parents wonder when the best time to show their children STAR WARS is. Now, an upcoming series of animated shorts aims to introduce the "classic themes, pivotal moments, and iconic characters" to the next generation of fans. Set to debut on StarWarsKids.com and the Star Wars Kids YouTube channel, the first six shorts will combine original dialogue, music, and sound effects combined with bold new animations as well as fun and educational add-ons designed to help older fans, parents, and other mentors welcome the kids in their lives to explore the galaxy far, far away.

"Over the years, I’ve had so many of my friends who are parents tell me how much they wanted to introduce their kids to Star Wars but didn’t feel that their kids were quite ready for the movies yet. They wanted a way to celebrate the universe they love," said James Waugh, Lucasfilm’s vice president for franchise content and strategy. "With Galaxy of Adventures, we wanted to craft something that allowed parents to help their kids take their first step into a much larger world whether they were ready to show their kids the films or wanted to find new ways to explore the content." The first shorts will be released on November 30th with additional shorts in the Star Wars: Galaxy of Adventures series set to debut in December with even more following in the new year leading up to the release of STAR WARS: EPISODE IX.

With Episode IX coming in December, and being the conclusion of the Skywalker saga — the long journey over 40 years of storytelling comes to its end — Galaxy of Adventures walks through the great moments and themes of the stories that led us here and introduces a new generation to them, in time for many to see this finale.

Obviously these shorts are aimed at a younger audience, but even to me, they look like a lot of fun; it also helps that the animation style is a marked improvement over the Star Wars: Forces of Destiny animated shorts.
