Star Wars: Andor has wrapped and will feature familiar faces

With The Mandalorian paving the way for the Star Wars franchise to embrace the small screen, we’ve got plenty of Star Wars TV shows on the way, including Star Wars: Andor. The prequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will find Diego Luna reprising his role of Cassian Andor, and while speaking with Deadline, the actor confirmed that the series has now finished shooting.

Diego Luna was promoting the return of his Amazon series Pan Y Circo and was naturally asked about Star Wars: Andor. “You’ll definitely see familiar faces,” Luna teased. “I can tell you about this project like no other because I can’t spoil the ending if you’ve seen [Rogue One] already. No matter what I say, I can’t ruin the ending.” We already know that Andor will feature the return of Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma as well as Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera, but it remains to be seen if there will be any other “familiar faces” popping up throughout the 12-episodes series. Like most projects over the past year, Star Wars: Andor was shot in the middle of a pandemic, but it doesn’t sound like it was a bad experience for Luna.

To be honest, it’s been such a blessing to do this job and to do it under these circumstances. I had the chance to work with a team that I couldn’t be more proud of and admire more. It’s a hard-core moment to be out there shooting, and we were really lucky. We’re done with the shooting now and getting it ready for audiences to see it.

While it was initially announced that Alan Tudyk would be reprising his role of K-2SO for the series, the actor revealed earlier this year that he wouldn’t appear in the first season. “They’re shooting it right now, I’m not in it,” Tudyk explained. “But, if it stays on the air, stories keep getting told, I’ll end up in there.” He added that series creator Tony Gilroy does have a plan for the character. “I’m going to be in the show. It’s just that the story that Tony [Gilroy] is telling doesn’t involve K-2SO until later on,” Tudyk teased. “I can’t be too specific, but I can definitely say that I’m not going to be in the first season.” Star Wars: Andor is expected to debut on Disney+ in 2022.
