Star Wars: Andor: Adria Arjona teases a mind-blowing series

Although much of the Star Wars hype is currently being taken up by the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series, another Star Wars series is just over the horizon. Star Wars: Andor, a prequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, will find Diego Luna reprising his role of Cassian Andor. We don’t know much about Andor, but Adria Arjona spoke of her experience shooting the series while speaking with THR.

Naturally, Adria Arjona couldn’t say much about Star Wars: Andor, but it sounds as though she’s dying to spill some details when the time is right.

That was incredible. I wish I could tell you more, but I can’t. All I can tell you is that as an actor, it was really moving to be on a Star Wars set. And during preparation, I kept telling myself, “I’m just not going to think that this is Star Wars because the more I think it’s Star Wars, the more nervous I get.” And when I showed up on set, I was like, “There’s no way I can get away with not thinking about the fact that this is Star Wars.” Every gadget, every prop, everywhere you’d look, you’re like, “Oh my god, I’m in Star Wars.” (Laughs.) So I had to embrace it and be like, “Okay, I’m in Star Wars.” (Laughs.) They’d build an entire city, and everything was sort of 360. The camera can sort of shoot everywhere, and it was really mind blowing.

Arjona added that she loves her character in Star Wars: Andor and even thought about getting her name tattooed on her arm before she realized that someone might snag a picture of it. For now, all she would say is that her character is a “very practical” woman. The actress had auditioned for several Star Wars roles in the past before finally landing her role in Andor, and she said that Diego Luna gave her a vote of confidence this time around. “Right before walking in, I looked at Diego [Luna] and I was shaking. I was like, ‘I am so nervous,’” Arjona said. “And he just put a hand on my shoulder and said, ‘You got this.’ And I was like, ‘Oh god, I hope so.’ And then Tony [Gilroy] gave me the role in the room. I only did the scene once and he said, ‘You got the job, my friend. Welcome to Star Wars.’

It’s not known exactly when Andor will debut on Disney+, but it should be sometime later this year. As for Adria Arjona, she can currently be seen starring alongside Jared Leto in Morbius. Check out a review from our own Chris Bumbray right here.
