Star Trek: Strange New Worlds opening title sequence released

We’re now less than a week away from the premiere of an all-new Star Trek series. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will revolve around Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) and the adventures of the U.S.S. Enterprise years before Captain Kirk took command. One staple of a Star Trek series is the opening title sequence, and Paramount+ has released the one for Strange New Worlds. It’s purely visuals, lacking any actor’s names at the moment, but it does feature Anson Mount speaking the classic Star Trek narration and plenty of beautiful shots of the Enterprise.

The Strange New Worlds opening title sequence features a theme from composer Jeff Russo which blends elements of the classic Alexander Courage theme. I love all Star Trek, but I’ve been looking forward to Strange New Worlds in particular as it’s been said that the series will tell more episodic stories than Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Picard.

Strange New Worlds stars Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, alongside Rebecca Romijn as Una Chin-Riley, Ethan Peck as Spock, Babs Olusanmokun as Dr. M’Benga, Jess Bush as Christine Chapel, Celia Rose Gooding as Nyota Uhura, Melissa Navia as Erica Ortegas, Bruce Horak as Hemmer, and Christina Chong as La’an Noonien-Singh. The series has already been renewed for a second season which is currently in production. We also got a major peek into the new season as it was announced that Paul Wesley (The Vampire Diaries) would appear as Captain James T. Kirk.

The official synopsis for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds:

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is based on the years Captain Christopher Pike manned the helm of the U.S.S. Enterprise. The series will feature fan favorites from season two of STAR TREK: DISCOVERY: Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Number One and Ethan Peck as Science Officer Spock. The series will follow Captain Pike, Science Officer Spock and Number One in the years before Captain Kirk boarded the U.S.S. Enterprise, as they explore new worlds around the galaxy.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will debut on Paramount+ on May 5, 2022.
