Star Trek: Picard season 3 clip finds Jean-Luc receiving a mysterious message

The release of Star Trek: Picard season 3 is less than two months away, and the first clip from the premiere has arrived. Wil Wheaton hosted a special episode of The Ready Room, which focused on the season finale of Star Trek: Prodigy, but the episode concluded with a clip from Picard season 3 that finds Jean-Luc (Patrick Stewart) having a quiet moment before he gets a mysterious message from a decades-old combadge.

You can check out the Star Trek: Picard season 3 clip below (starting at 28:48) or on the Star Trek website for international audiences.

It’s not confirmed in the clip, but it’s expected that the secret message comes from Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden), who helps set the stage for Picard’s next adventure. In addition to Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard, Star Trek: Picard season 3 also features the return of Jonathan Frakes as Riker, Marina Sirtis as Troi, LeVar Burton as Geordi, Gates McFadden as Crusher, Michael Dorn as Worf, Jeri Ryan as Seven, and Michelle Hurd as Raffi. Brent Spiner will also be back as Lore, Data’s evil twin. Amanda Plummer will play Vadic, the big bad of the season, with Daniel Davis reprising his role of Professor Moriarty, the holodeck character who gained sentience.

I remember watching the premiere of Star Trek: The Next Generation almost 34 years ago with my father like it was yesterday,” said Star Trek: Picard season 3 showrunner and executive producer Terry Matalas. “It was the spark that ignited my love for science fiction. So, it’s most fitting that the story of Jean-Luc Picard ends honoring the beginning, with his dearest and most loyal friends from the U.S.S. Enterprise. It would be an understatement to say that giving these characters a proper send-off is an honor. The entire Star Trek: Picard team and I can’t wait for fans to experience this final, high-stakes, starship-bound adventure in season three!” As a lifelong Star Trek fan, I hope that they’re able to knock it out of the park with this final season, but it will be great to see The Next Generation gang back together one last time.

The third and final season of Star Trek: Picard will debut on Paramount+ on February 16, 2023.
