I love Fred Dekker. He is one of my favorite horror filmmakers after helming two of the best 80s creature features in NIGHT OF THE CREEPS and MONSTER SQUAD. While MONSTER SQUAD had a seemingly endless supply of coolness, the coolest aspect of the film, duh, are the monsters.
Well those monsters were created by the master of FX Stan Winston. If I have to tell you who Stan Winston is let me instead make you aware you are currently visiting a horror movie website and you may have lost your way.
For everyone else still reading, Stan Winston created a school for make-up effects years ago called the Stan Winston School (you don't need a clever name when you're Stan Winston) and they recently posted a blog FILLED with behind-the scenes photos from the filming of MONSTER SQUAD.
I have posted (a few) of the pics below so check them out asap. And, as if any of us need it, here is the MONSTER SQUAD synopsis via IMDb:
12-year-old Sean Crenshaw and his best friend Patrick are die hard monster fanatics. Along with their friend Horace (nicknamed Fat Kid),junior high tough guy Rudy, Sean's kid sister Phoebe, and little Eugene they come together and talk monsters. But when Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, The Gill Man, and The Mummy come to their small town to get an amulet to control the world, Sean leads his friends into action to protect their town from the forces of evil.
