A few weeks ago, the comic book world stood still when news broke that Stan Lee had been rushed to the hospital for irregular heartbeat and shortness of breath. Luckily the legend was okay and was allowed to go back home not too long after. Now in a recent video Lee has revealed he’s been battling a case of pneumonia but is now starting to feel much better.
In the video obtained by TMZ, Lee updated viewers on his condition and thanked everyone for the well wishes and expressed a desire to get back out there and do what he does best – which I assume involves crimefighting.
Here is the transcript:
“Hiya, heroes. This is Stan Lee. I haven’t been in touch with you lately. Had a little bout of pneumonia I’ve been fighting, but it seems to be getting better. But I want you all to know I’m thinking of you. Of course, I always think of the fans and I hope you’re all doing well, and I miss you all. I miss your enthusiasm. I miss all the notes and the photos and the emails I used to get — and I still get a lot of them.
“And I want you to know that I still love you all. And I think that Marvel and Spidey and I had the best group of fans that any group in the world ever had and I sure appreciate it. So, let me know how you’re doing. I hope everything is going well for you. And I hope next time we talk, I’ll be in even better shape. Maybe I’ll even have some of this pneumonia knocked down. and we can have some real fun over the incident. Till then, excelsior!”
The 95-year-old creator of Marvel Comics was rushed to the hospital at the end of January, and by early February he was out and about again and was even on the red carpet for the BLACK PANTHER premiere.
Everyone here at JoBlo is wishing the master, the man, and the guru Stan Lee a speedy and healthy recovery as he gets better. Here is a man who has touched the lives of millions, if not billions, of people with his work, and lord knows we need more of his spirit, tenacity, creativity and heart in this world.
