Today is a mighty fine day for those of us who enjoy violence on the big screen! Not long ago, Sylvester Stallone took to his official Instagram account to alert Rambo fans that the character's next mission has received a hard R rating. In addition to this glorious news, Stallone posted two new photos of himself as Rambo, one of Hollywood's most beloved war-torn warriors of the silver screen. In the first pic, we see the grunt-speak soldier covered in blood, and possibly noking back his trusty bow and arrow. In the next photo, we get a shot of what looks like John smothering someone who had the gall to stand in his way. While the reasons as to why the film has received an R rating have not been disclosed at this time, I can only imagine that it's because the next chapter of the John Rambo saga is packed with gratuitous violence, blood, gore, profanity, and many of the little things that make the MPAA squirm in their cushy, velveteen seats.
RAMBO: LAST BLOOD is meant to serve as Stallone's swan song as John Rambo, the hardened Italian and Navajo-born Vietnam veteran. Set to star in the no doubt action-packed bloodbath are Stallone, Paz Vega, Oscar Jaenada, Louis Mandylor, Joaquin Cosio, Yvette Monreal, Adriana Carraza, Jessica Madsen, and Sergio Peris-Mencheta, among others.
Heres' the logline for the upcoming film:
When the daughter of one of his friends is kidnapped, Rambo (Stallone) — who has been working on a ranch — crosses the U.S.-Mexico border and quickly finds himself up against the full might of one of Mexico’s most violent cartels.
With several projects in the works, including another chapter of THE EXPENDABLES, a ROCKY sequel, and a ROCKY-related prequel television series, it makes you wonder how the Italian Stallion ever has time to rest. As for me, I say bless this man's energy and dedication. It's a fine time to be a Stallone fan, these days, and here's hoping that each and every project he has coming down the pike is a barn burner.
RAMBO: LAST BLOOD will chew bullets and shred body parts in theaters beginning on September 20.
