Stallone to return for Expendables 2 but not as director

Millennium Films, the production company behind THE EXPENDABLES, is moving forward with a sequel to last year’s surprise hit with one catch: Sylvester Stallone won’t be writing or directing the second time around. Fret not, Stallone will still star in the movie and would serve as producer. In fact, it’s Stallone who’s meeting with potential directors to take over the reigns of EXPENDABLES 2.

A script for the movie has apparently already been written by David Agosto and Ken Kaufman, the duo behind such genre classics as CURIOUS GEORGE. Where the sequel goes remains to be seen but Stallone has been teasing the return of Bruce Willis and a role for Jean Claude Van Damme since the release of the first film.

While the original film was released by Lionsgate, it was essentially produced independently, as the sequel will be.

Wouldn’t you love to see THE EXPENDABLES VS. JASON or something like that? At the end of the day, ALIENS was basically a movie with a crew of “expendables” killing aliens, why not Stallone and his crew? I live to see JCVD kick a monster in the face.

Yeah, that’s not gonna happen. But where should EXPENDABLES 2 take the boys? And should Arnold Schwarzenegger make this his first major role since leaving public office?
