RAMBO 5: LAST BLOOD is currently in production, with Adrian Grunberg directing the film from a screenplay by Matt Cirulnick and star Sylvester Stallone (pictured above in 1982's FIRST BLOOD). But, as Stallone says, "a writer's job is never done", and one of the images he recently shared to Instagram shows him working on the script in between shots on set.
This sequel will show us what happens when
John Rambo, who has been working on a ranch, crosses the U.S./Mexico border to help find the kidnapped daughter of one of his close friends. He quickly finds himself up against the full might of one of Mexico’s most violent cartels.
Previously announced co-stars include Paz Vega as Carmen Delgado, "a reporter who covers the Mexican drug trade and teams up with Rambo after her younger half-sister is kidnapped"; Yvette Monreal as Gabrielle, the kidnapped daughter of Rambo's friend; and Sergio Peris-Mencheta as villainous cartel leader Hugo Martinez.
The cast has now expanded to include, in unspecified roles, Óscar Jaenada, who appeared in the 2016 shark thriller THE SHALLOWS; Adriana Barraza, who received an Oscar nomination for her role in the 2006 film BABEL; and Joaquin Cosio, who played one of the villains in the 2008 James Bond film QUANTUM OF SOLACE.
RAMBO 5: LAST BLOOD is being produced by Kevin King Templeton and Les Weldon, with Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, and Boaz Davidson executive producing.
Lionsgate will be releasing the film in the U.S. and the U.K., but a release date has not been announced yet.
