Stallone/Bautista team-up Escape Plan 2 gets trailer and release date

Five years ago, Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger teamed up for the action thriller ESCAPE PLAN, in which the pair worked together to escape from a prison that happened to be inside a cargo ship. Schwarzenegger isn't back for the sequel ESCAPE PLAN 2: HADES, but Stallone reprises the role of security specialist Ray Breslin alongside an action star whose career has really taken off in the years since the release of the first ESCAPE PLAN – former wrestler Dave Bautista, now known for his roles in movies like GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY (Stallone had a cameo in GUARDIANS 2, but didn't share the screen with Bautista), SPECTRE, and BLADE RUNNER 2049.

Directed by Steven C. Miller from a screenplay by Mile Chapman, ESCAPE PLAN 2 has the following synopsis: 

Ray Breslin manages an elite team of security specialists trained in the art of breaking people out of the world's most impenetrable prisons. When his most trusted operative, Shu Ren, is kidnapped and disappears inside the most elaborate prison ever built, entirely computerized and constantly changing shape, Ray must track him down with the help of some of his former friends.

Stallone and Bautista are joined in the cast by Jaime King, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Xiaoming Huang, and Jesse Metcalfe.

We've been following the progress of ESCAPE PLAN 2 for a year and a half, and now this is the update we've been waiting for – Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced that they will be releasing the film on Blu-ray, DVD, and VOD on June 29th.

Along with this announcement comes the release of the trailer, which can be seen below.

I wasn't a big fan of ESCAPE PLAN, but I'm still looking forward to watching ESCAPE PLAN 2… and ESCAPE PLAN 3, which has already been filmed.
