At the end of last week, a report surfaced online about the live-action The Tick series returning on Amazon, with Patrick Warburton reprising his role from the short-lived FOX show. Many considered it to be just a rumor because of the source (People), but apparently there are plans for a reboot of The Tick starring Warburton.
According to The Wrap, Patrick Warburton has "worked out a deal with Sony Television, who have held the rights since the show's 2001 cancellation, to bring back the beloved character as an Amazon pilot." Creator Bed Edlund also tweeted about the return of The Tick.
Yes for now suffice it to say the dream of a new live-action Tick is being pursued with vigor #bringbackTheTick

The Tick only aired for one season before it was canceled after eight episodes (there are nine total), however the series was well-received by fans and critics, and later developed a following after it was released on DVD. Before that, there was also an animated series featuring the character.
Here's the description of the original live-action The Tick series from Amazon:
In the title role, Warburton (with highly expressive antennae) hits all the right notes of dimwitted innocence and brute-force gallantry, aided immeasurably by his moth-costumed sidekick Arthur (David Burke), wannabe lothario Batmanuel (Nestor Carbonell), and buxom beauty Captain Liberty (Liz Vassey). Attentive to the more mundane aspects of superheroism, The Tick offers outrageous villains (like the nefarious "Destroyo") and eccentric allies (like Ron Perlman's hilarious "Fiery Blaze") while showing that even crimefighters have everyday problems and desires.
If Patrick Warburton wasn't returning as the "nigh-invulnerable" superhero I probably wouldn't be as excited for the Amazon pilot, but as a huge fan of both the animated and live-action series, this is awesome news. While there's no word on which other characters and actors from the original series will return for the pilot, I'm fairly certain Tick's sidekick Arthur will be in the planned project since he's one of only a few characters to appear in the comic book, the animated series and the live-action show. Are you pumped for the return of Patrick Warburton as The Tick?
And just for funsies, here's Patrick Warburton in "How To Tell if You're a Basic Bitch." Enjoy.
