WARNING: This article contains MAJOR spoilers for the finale of AVENGERS: ENDGAME. Please proceed with caution.
With details related to the Blu-ray and DVD release of AVENGERS: ENDGAME having recently hit the net, fans are no doubt eager to see what manner of deleted scenes had wound up on the cutting room floor of Marvel's Infinity Saga finale. One such scene that did not make it into the final cut of the film has arrived today, and let me tell you, it's a real tear-jerker.
Truth be told, I openly wept upward of three times during my time with AVENGERS: ENDGAME, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Like many people, I've been a fan of the MCU ever since Robert Downey Jr. arrived as Iron Man for director Jon Favreau's 2008 film. And since that time I've bore witness to the MCU's ups, downs, and in betweens. For me, watching Marvel build one of the most successful universe's in film history has been nothing short of inspiring. I've laughed, I've cried, and have cursed my way through all of their offerings, though nothing that had come before hit me like the finale of AVENGERS: ENDGAME – when we saw a valiant Tony Stark sacrafice himself for the good of humankind.
In today's clip, we see members of the Avengers and their extended family of heroes taking a knee in honor of their fallen comrade, Tony Stark. Honestly, I needed a few minutes to myself before I could pen this article, as this deleted scene superhero punched me right in the feels. I hope you have some Kleenex handy, because you're going to need it.
Ugh! Niagara Falls, Frankie. Niagara Falls. I mean, good on Hawkeye for being the first one to pay his respects. The same goes for Captain Marvel, who barely knew the man but still recognizes when a beloved soldier has made the ultimate sacrafice. Then there's Star-Lord, the prick who in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR fucked everything up by letting his emotions get the better of him. Oh man, and the way Cap just sort of crumples to the ground as memories of his and Tony's rivalry are no doubt screaming inside his star spangled head. Oh yeah, there's also Gamora, who after having quite the rough afternoon is like "Psssh, I didn't even know this fool. Y'all have fun with your mourning. I'm gonna go grab a burger."
AVENGERS: ENDGAME will arrive n Digital and on Movies Anywhere July 30 and on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and DVD August 13.
