Spock fights for the future in trailer for Star Trek: Discovery season two

There was an amazing period throughout the '90s when Star Trek was the king. You had The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager all overlapping with each-other, as well as movies like GENERATIONS, FIRST CONTACT, and INSURRECTION. Wherever you went, there was Star Trek, but you can only keep it going for so long until the flame begins to burn out, and that's exactly what happened. Thanks to the J.J. Abrams movies and the debut of Star Trek: Discovery, we seem to be on a verge of another phase in the life of the long-running franchise. Not only will 2019 bring us the second season of Discovery, but we'll also get more Star Trek: Short Treks as well as a Jean-Luc Picard series which will see the return of Patrick Stewart. It's an exciting time, provided you're a Star Trek fan.

Star Trek: Discovery's second season is a little over a month away and CBS have released a new trailer which gives us more of a look into the main plot of the new season. The crew of Discovery will be teaming up with Captain Christoper Pike (Anson Mount) to investigate mysterious signals spread across the galaxy which follow the appearance of a being known as the Red Angel. Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) will also have to face her estranged step-brother, Spock (Ethan Peck), who has had a first-hand experience with the Red Angel. I seemed to enjoy the first season of Discovery more than most, but there was certainly room for improvement. Hopefully the new season will see them find their footing.

The second season Star Trek: Discovery, which was recently extended from 13 to 14 episodes, will debut on January 17, 2019.
