I don't think I'm alone in saying that M. Night Shyamalan's SPLIT was one of the most (if not THE most) pleasant surprises we horror fans have received at the movies this year so far.
Not only was the film a return to form for M. Night's directing talents, but the flick boasted a surprise ending "heard 'round the world" in the form of — you know what, as silly as it may seem, no, I'm still not going to go into the specifics of the last 30 secs of the flick just yet. Let's give it another month, or so.
Anyhow, whether you peeped the flick in the theater once, twice, or three times, or you've been holding out and awaiting the eventual home release, I've got good news:
SPLIT will be available on Digital HD April 4th, and Blu-ray, DVD, and On Demand April 18th!
Here is a rundown on the Special Features:
Alternate Ending
Deleted Scenes
The Making of Split- Filmmakers, cast, and crew discuss what attracted them to the project and how they were able to bring such a unique premise to life.
The Many Faces of James McAvoy- A look at how James McAvoy approached the challenge of playing so many different identities.
The Filmmaker’s Eye: M. Night Shyamalan – Director and writer M. Night Shyamalan has a singular, big-picture vision of his projects. Producers, cast, and crew discuss how Night’s process gives them the freedom to execute their roles to the fullest.
Alternate ending?? Oh, boy. Call me intrigued as f*ck.
I can only hope the alternate ending isn't one of those lame ones where we get, like, ONE additional shot added to the scene with the girl from THE WITCH (see below) getting picked up by her stepfather, or something. But it probably is…
Always the optimist though, I'm still looking forward to picking this up on Blu-ray in April. Maybe as gifts for all the flick's haters I know… Yeah, that's a good idea.
