We're just a couple weeks out from the release of Spiral: From the Book of Saw, but that film's title isn't stopping the folks at Forest Hill Entertainment and Picturestart from moving forward with a different genre film that's using the overused title Spiral. This one is set to star Selena Gomez, and is being executive produced by Drake.
Petra Collins will be directing the film from a screenplay written by Phoebe Fisher, based on a previous draft scripted by Collins and Melissa Broder. The story centers on
a former influencer whose addiction to social media is causing her body to literally fall apart.
Spiral is being referred to as a psychological thriller, but many outlets are pointing out that "body horror" sounds like an accurate description for it as well.
Matthew Budman and Sumaiya Kaveh are producing Spiral through their company Forest Hill Entertainment. Future the Prince (a.k.a. Adel Nur) executive produces the HBO series Euphoria with Drake, and will also be executive producing this movie with him.
Spiral will mark the feature directorial debut of Collins, who is best known for her acting role on the Amazon series Transparent.
