It was just a few minutes ago that we shared the news that there may very well be another adaptation of Stephen King's massive novel THE STAND heading to TV and that might be for the best considering we just lost one of his other TV adaptations…
Yes, it is official. Spike has canceled THE MIST.
This is too bad (I guess) as the idea of THE MIST seemed like it would transfer nicely to the small screen. A new season, a new environment comes under threat of the dreaded mist. But this was not meant to be.
Oh, well.
Spike's decision to cancel THE MIST is said to be part of the station's upcoming re-branding from Spike to the Paramount Network. Which makes sense to me, Spike TV sounded like something only frat boys watched. But maybe that was just me.

Spike's THE MIST synopsis:
Based on a story by Stephen King, Spike’s THE MIST centers around a small town family that is torn apart by a brutal crime. As they deal with the fallout an eerie mist rolls in, suddenly cutting them off from the rest of the world and, in some cases, each other. Family, friends and adversaries become strange bedfellows, battling the mysterious mist and its threats, fighting to maintain morality and sanity as the rules of society break down.
Spike's THE MIST comes to us from showrunner Christian Torpe and stars Morgan Spector, Alyssa Sutherland, Gus Birney, Danica Curcic, Okezie Morro, Luke Cosgrove, Darren Pettie, Russell Posner, Dan Butler, Isiah Washington, Jr. and Frances Conroy.
THE MIST hits Netflix October 24th.
