Even though SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE 2 doesn't come out until October 7, 2022, that doesn't mean that the creative team behind the sequel can't tease us with little hints that may pop up in the sequel. Producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller recently engaged in a social media exchange and the pair may have teased the arrival of a fan-favorite new character.
Following Lord saying, "my ears aren't big enough or stuff enough for my mask-wearing needs. Any suggestions?", Miller responded with a picture of a character that will be very familiar to fans: Silk. Using the character as an example of how Lord could wear a face mask in the current climate, can't be at n accident, especially since the sequel is likely to introduce new Spider-themed characters from the expansive multiverse. You can check out the Twitter exchange below:
For those who aren't familiar with Cindy Moon a.k.a. Silk, she is a Korean American who was bitten by the same spider that originally turned Peter Parker into Spider-Man. She has a similar collection of abilities to Parker and she has worked alongside the likes of Spider-Man: Noir from the first SPIDER-VERSE film. She also teamed up with Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Woman, and Spider-Girl, all of whom could potentially be introduced in the sequel.
Silk was introduced in 2014 and first appeared in "The Amazing Spider-Man #1". The character was created by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos and despite how now the character is, Silk has gained a pretty passionate following and would likely be a welcome addition to the SPIDER-VERSE 2 roster. Plot details are thin on the sequel but we do know, according to Chris Miller and Phil Lord, that countless other versions of Spider-Man could factor into the project.
