Spider-Man: Tom Holland’s contract is up after No Way Home

Spider-Man 3 was at the center of a lot of news this week due to first-look images released by the film's stars and a series of trolling/misdirect images about the film's title. The official title was finally revealed yesterday with Spidey's latest adventure being called Spider-Man: No Way Home. Tom Holland has been pretty at home playing Spider-Man since Captain America: Civil War but plans beyond the third Spider-Man MCU film have yet to be determined because this is actually the last film that Holland is contractually signed up for.

Holland has been busy making the press rounds for his new film Cherry and during a recent interview with "USA Today", he was asked what he has planned next for upcoming projects and he revealed that he would be taking time off because this is the first time since signing on to play Peter Parker/Spider-Man that he is not under contract:

"I'm going to take a break and travel the world. It's the first time since I signed on to (Spider-Man) that I don't have a contract with someone. I might go skiing because that's something I've not really been allowed to do because it's obviously a dangerous sport. I've been very careful over the years, which is why I've become obsessed with golf because it's the only sport I can play without getting injured."

Tom Holland's original MCU contract was said to span six films. The actor made his debut in the aforementioned Captain America: Civil War in 2016 and that was followed by Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: Far From Home. Once you factor in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the actor has satisfied his six-picture contract.

Despite the contract coming to an end, it seems almost guaranteed that Tom Holland will play Spider-Man beyond No Way Home. Disney and Sony have figured how to play nice, despite some hiccups, which makes their collaboration allowing Spider-Man to be a part of the MCU actually work. It's a lucrative endeavor for both companies and I think they both see that the fans want Spider-Man where he belongs in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Speaking on Tom Holland, the actor LOVES playing the character and is young enough to continue to play him in various stages of his life as he grows up. Holland also said in the same interview that if Marvel wanted him for ten Spider-Man movies, he would be there:

"I'm very lucky that I look young and I can continue to play this 17-year-old web-slinger and I will do that for as long as they will have me. If they want me to make 10 Spider-Man movies, you better believe I will be there."

Even if Tom Holland decides he wants to branch out more as an actor, I'm sure he would work it around a new contract with Sony/Disney in order to continue playing the character. He seems like a person that views his time with the role as an opportunity of a lifetime and I doubt he's ready to let any of that go anytime soon.

Do YOU think Tom Holland will re-up his contract after Spider-Man: No Way Home
