In addition to multiple incarnations of Peter Parker, Spider-Man: No Way Home pulled villains from the last twenty years of Spider-Man movies, including Willem Dafoe‘s Green Goblin. While the iconic villain ditched the helmet from the original Sam Raimi movie pretty quickly, he closed the film wearing a tattered purple hoodie over his battle-damaged armour. It was a great look for the crazed villain, but concept art for the Spider-Man sequel shows that Green Goblin could have incorporated Iron Man armour into his costume as well.

Concept art from Spider-Man: No Way Home – The Art of the Movie (via The Direct) includes a few takes with Green Goblin using pieces of Iron Man’s Mark VI armour. Another piece showcases the same armour painted purple, emulating the villain’s classic colour scheme from the comics.

The addition of Iron Man armour on the Green Goblin suit actually looks pretty cool, but I’m glad they went with the version seen in the movie. As for where Green Goblin got his hands on the Tony Stark’s armour, concept artist Phil Saunders said that an earlier version of the script “had the villains raiding a Damage Control container ship of Stark tech for parts, and the director was looking for a mismatched collection of armor pieces that would reflect Osborne’s schizophrenic mania.

For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighbourhood hero’s identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk,” reads the official synopsis for Spider-Man: No Way Home. “When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse.

What do you think of Green Goblin’s Iron Man look? Would you like to have seen the villain incorporate the Stark Tech into his costume in Spider-Man: No Way Home?
