MTV seem to be scoring some pretty interesting
interviews lately. Just
the other day they scored some insights on
Kevin Smith’s horror attempt RED STATE and now they’ve got the latest on
Todd McFarlane’s self produced SPAWN 2.
I really dug the SPAWN comic series, but I never
really go into the film when it hit in ’97. I will admit that I’m really digging
what McFarlane has to say about this possible sequel though.
McFarlane mentions that he wrote a much creepier,
thriller like script that would head towards an ‘R’ rating. I’m not saying that
an ‘R’ rating guarantees that a film will be good, but it does give more freedom
to the director. Apparently McFarlane will write, produce, and direct this film
all on his own. Now whether or not this will be a good thing, I don’t know. He
certainly knows his way around a comic, so I’m sort of hoping that he’ll be able
to create some sort of fairly decent film.
I would really recommend checking out the full
interview
here to see what McFarlane has to say about the
return of SPAWN. It actually sounds like the second in the series could be a
possible fun fest for all!
