Space Wars: Quest for the Deepstar, an action-packed sci-fi adventure movie from Garo Setian, director of the sci-fi thriller Automation (watch it HERE, read our review HERE), is set to receive a theatrical release on April 21st, with a digital release to follow on May 2nd. In anticipation of those release dates, we’re proud to share the EXCLUSIVE first look at a batch of posters that introduce the characters of Space Wars! Setian directed the film from a screenplay by Joe Knetter (writer of Blind and Pretty Boy), based on a story Setian and Knetter crafted together. Starring Michael Pare (Streets of Fire), Olivier Gruner (Nemesis), Sarah French (Blind), Tyler Gallant (Alpha Wolf) Rachele Brooke Smith (Nightmare Shark), Anahit Setian (Automation), Jed Rowen (Pretty Boy), Elise Muller (Dolls) and Sadie Katz (Wrong Turn 6). Space Wars: Quest for the Deepstar tells the story of a father-daughter team of space scavengers who must race against a band of evil mercenaries to reach the legendary treasures on board a lost mythical freighter.
A co-production between Hungry Monster Entertainment, Millman Productions, and Ron Lee Productions, Space Wars: Quest for the DeepStar was produced by Jeff Miller, Robert Parigi, ‘Evil’ Ted Smith, Ben Stobber, Joanna Fang, Garo and Anahit Setian, Joe Knetter, Sarah French, and Bill Klinakis. Miller also executive produces alongside Ronnie D. Lee.
Space Wars: Quest for the Deepstar has been making the festival rounds lately, and along the way it has won the Golden Marquee Award for Best Feature Film and the Outstanding Producing Award at the Zed Fest Film Festival. It also won the Gold Award for Best Sci-Fi Feature at the Hollywood Independent Filmmaker Awards and Festival, a Gold Award and Silver Award for Feature and Directing at the Hollywood Gold Awards, and an Outstanding Performance Award for Sarah French and Diamond Award for Best Actor in a Sci-Fi for Michael Pare’ at the New York Best Actor & Director Awards. And it has been selected for screening at the Miami International Science Fiction Film Festival at the end of this month.
The film’s crew includes: Michael Su as Director of Photography, Anthony Pearce as Production Designer, Jo Anna Heckman as Costume Designer, and ‘Evil’ Ted Smith as lead prop fabricator. Steve Clarke and Paul Knott provided the visual effects, while Jeff Farley handled the practical creature FX. The score was composed by Joel Christian Goffin. Uncork’d Entertainment is handling distribution and worldwide sales.
