Soska Twins to write and direct Unseen, based on audio-only game BlindSide

Released several years ago, the game BlindSide is an "audio-only adventure, set in a fully-immersive 3D world you'll never see." Radar Pictures is now planning to bring the world of BlindSide to the screen with a film adaptation called UNSEEN, and "Twisted Twins" Jen and Sylvia Soska will be writing, directing, and producing the film.

UNSEEN will be about

a Boston couple who wake up blind in a terrifying world they cannot recognize. As the couple claw their way through this terrifying new reality, they fear their sanity slipping away. They sense the presence of a strange new species, one for which light is not a priority.

Radar's Michael Napoliello, Maria Frisk, and Alex Power will be producing alongside the Soskas. The twin filmmaking duo released the following statement:

UNSEEN is a horror film experience completely unlike any other before it. This film will truly bring the fear of the unknown to life by putting the focus of storytelling on what you hear."

Radar's Ted Field is executive producing the project, and he had this to say about it:

I enjoyed what the Soskas did with their twist on Cronenberg's RABID. Their work as writers and directors embraces classic genre elements and adds a fresh, visceral quality. I look forward to seeing what we create with UNSEEN."

In the game BlindSide,

you play as Case, an assistant professor who wakes up blind, to find his city destroyed and mysterious creatures devouring people. Will you and your girlfriend be able to find your way without sight? How will you escape? Run for your life, navigate the darkness, and uncover the mystery of the apocalypse – all in the dark!

I have never played BlindSide, but an audio-only game is an interesting concept. That doesn't seem to lend itself to a cinematic adaptation, but UNSEEN has me intrigued. I'm not sure why they're not keeping the title of the game as the title of the movie. Sure, there have been plenty of movies with "BLINDSIDE" in the title, but there have also been a whole lot of movies called UNSEEN.
