Robert Englund is the man behind the character that spawned a thousand childhood nightmares for this writer, so it's with great interest to me when I hear word on any film starring the guy who made Freddy Krueger the iconic character he became. That's why I was excited to learn that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has acquired UK rights to Phil Hawkins' THE LAST SHOWING from The Philm Company and SC Films, as reported by ScreenDaily.
THE LAST SHOWING tells the story of a young couple, Martin (Finn Jones) and Allie (Emily Berrington), who have a night out at their local cinema. They become unwitting stars of their own horror story at the hands of Stuart (Robert Englund), a disturbed projectionist. Trapping them in the cinema complex, Stuart uses hidden cameras to play his two victims off against one another, directing them to a finale where there can only be one survivor.
Could this mean a North American deal is close now that one has happened for our friends across the pond? I sure hope so! This one sounds like it could be a lotta twisted fun.
More on THE LAST SHOWING as we hear it.
