In the realm of low-key movie news, Sony has announced that their upcoming legal thriller starring Denzel Washington officially has a title.
Alright, everybody calm down. Let's just dig into this thing and then we can start doing keg stands in celebration of the news that NIGHTCRAWLER director Dan Gilroy's previously titled INNER CITY is now to be called ROMAN ISRAEL, ESQ.. The film, which has just completed its principle photography, has no release date to speak of at this time but is reportedly shooting for a fourth quarter 2017 release. This will place the film directly in the line of fire for awards season, which, and as you know, is often Washington's biscuits and butter.
ROMAN ISRAEL, ESQ. will tell the story of a Los Angeles attorney, played by Washington, who is offered a job at a prestigious law firm after the death of his longtime partner and takes on a case that has life-altering repercussions. Stars Colin Farrell and Carmen Ejogo are also set to star in the legal drama.
With any luck, and bit of movie magic savvy, ROMAN ISRAEL, ESQ. will book a court date in theaters during the fourth quarter of this year.
