Sony Pictures set for The Apocalypse with Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel

We reported about THE APOCALYPSE last year, the upcoming project that will mark Seth Rogen’s directorial debut. Back then Seth was talking about wanting the film to be a horror/comedy, so naturally it has made our radar.

We’re not the only ones whose radar this is on as Sony Pictures are negotiating to pick the film up! They will finance and distribute the film, which Rogen co-wrote with his collaboration partner in crime Evan Goldberg. The film is based upon a short film titled JAY AND SETH VS. THE APOCALYPSE.

The original short saw Seth and Jay Baruchel portraying themselves as they get held up in an apartment and deal with the end of days. Originally the film was going to just feature the duo, but that has since changed with a cast now including James Franco, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride and Craig Robinson (again playing themselves) and the apartment in question will be Franco’s. A whole bunch of cameo’s are expected for the film as well.

The budget for the project is expected to be between the $30-$40 million range and production set to start sometime this year with no release date set.
