Sony picks up The Spierig Brothers’ Predestination

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Looks like Michael and Peter Spierig’s sci-fi action-thriller PREDESTINATION is picking up steam, as Variety reports that Sony Pictures has acquired domestic and select international rights to the film, starring Ethan Hawke.

Here’s what the Bros themselves said about the story:

“Predestination is based on the classic Robert A. Heinlein short story ‘All you Zombies.’ No, it’s not a Zombie flick but it’s one of our favorite short stories and is unlike anything you’ve ever read before. The short is on many sci-fi lists as one of the greatest short stories of all time, and the mother of all time paradox tales. Heinlein is considered one of the great science fiction masters alongside Phillip K. Dick, Isaac Asimov, and Arthur C. Clarke.”

And here’s the rundown of the plot:

The story centers on a secret government time traveling agency designed to prevent future killers and terrorists from committing their crimes. Pic chronicles the life of a Temporal Agent sent on an intricate series of time-travel journeys designed to ensure the continuation of his law enforcement career for all eternity.

Filming begins early next year in Australia.
