Sony Pictures is deep in negotiations to make a pre-emptive $1.25 million deal for DARK MATTER, a novel by Blake Crouch that is based on a 150-page partial manuscript that is being described as a high concept sci-fi thriller in the vein of MEMENTO and LOOPER, according to Deadline.

Deadline is also hearing that Matt Tolmach will produce the project and that Sony president Michael De Luca is overseeing the deal with executive Rachel O’Connor. Crouch will write the script when he completes the book of which publishing rights for North America just sold for more than one-million dollars last week to Crown. Sounds like this particular tale could be rather intriguing material!

You may recall that Crouch's "Wayward Pines" sold to Fox for a 10-part TV series in 2015 that will be directed by M. Night Shyamalan and star Matt Dillon, Carla Gugino, Terrence Howard and Toby Jones. This guy is on a hot streak right now so we're definitely curious to see what he's cooked up with DARK MATTER. More on this one as we hear it.
