Sitting on the Sony Pictures release schedule is a movie that's shrouded in secrecy, but which we were supposed to receive information on a month ago. The planned information reveal was set to happen at the San Diego Comic-Con, but things fell apart when a firestorm of controversy erupted around producer James Gunn. Hours before the Sony panel at Comic-Con, Disney fired Gunn from his job directing GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 due to awful jokes that were unearthed from his Twitter history, so his appearance at Comic-Con was cancelled.

Even though we still don't know what this movie Gunn produced for Sony is, the studio remains determined to give it a theatrical release via Screen Gems on November 30th.

Directed by THE HIVE's David Yarovesky from a screenplay by Brian and Mark Gunn (James Gunn's brother and cousin, respectively), the horror project stars Elizabeth Banks, who played the heroine in James Gunn's SLITHER (pictured above), alongside Jackson A. Dunn, David Denman, Meredith Hagner, and Matt Jones.

James Gunn produced the film with The H Collective and has described the concept as

personal, and different, and perfectly suited for our times. And, yes, terrifying."

Whatever it is, we're bound to hear more about this film soon, since its release date is only three months away. They'll have to get the marketing machine running, even if they decide to downplay James Gunn's involvement in the promotional material.
