As early word has most praising Spider-Man: No Way Home as the best Spidey entry to date, some are looking to the future and, more pointedly, Tom Holland’s future as the titular character. While Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal has been vocal about Holland’s involvement in a new Spider-Man trilogy, she has also walked back on those comments a bit and has become more vague but sony Pictures’ Tom Rothman can confirm that the actor will be involved in at least one more MCU crossover movie.
While speaking with the Phase Zero podcast at the Spider-Man: No Way Home premiere in Los Angeles, Rothman explained that, based on the current partnership between Sony and Marvel, there is at least one more MCU crossover movie that Holland has to appear in that will put him in the same world as the other MCU characters. Rothman said, “We lend one, then they lend one and that’s how Benedict is in this movie, so we have one more lend back that is committed.”
Marvel’s Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) is featured in Spider-Man: No Way Home and is crucial in kicking off the events of the film. His presence in the movie is due to this shared partnership between Sony and Marvel where the latter lent him to the Sony production to properly tell the film’s story. What the one “committed” crossover confirmed for Holland is unknown as of now but it’s nice to hear that he will be around some of his MCU friends again in the future. It seems like Sony and Marvel are in a MUCH better place today regarding sharing Spider-Man so I suspect that Holland and his place within both studios as the character is secure as long he wants to keep doing it.
What MCU crossover project do you think Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will appear in?
