Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will start streaming on Paramount+ tomorrow

Sure, you could watch Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore when it drops on HBO Max next week, or… you could watch Sonic the Hedgehog 2 tomorrow! That’s right; Paramount Home Entertainment announced today that Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will start streaming on Paramount + in the U.S. and Canada on May 24th.

In addition to streaming on Paramount+ tomorrow, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will also be available to rent and purchase across digital platforms. If you’d prefer to wait for the physical media release, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will be released on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on August 9th. The Digital, 4K Ultra HD, and Blu-ray additions of the film will include nearly an hour of bonus features, including an all-new, exclusive animated short entitled Sonic Drone Home featuring Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles.

The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has proven to be a success for Paramount, and the studio has a lot of faith in the series as they got the ball rolling on a third film earlier this year. Not only that, but they’re also developing a live-action spin-off TV series centering around Knuckles for Paramount+, with Idris Elba returning to voice the role. “The world of Sonic the Hedgehog has been capturing imaginations for decades, and we are thrilled to stretch the limits of what this franchise is capable of with world-class offerings both on the big screen and for Sonic fans at home,” said producer Neal Mortiz. “The sky is truly the limit, and I am immensely proud to be part of creating new Sonic content for longtime fans as well as introducing Sonic to a new generation.“

After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is ready for more freedom, and Tom and Maddie agree to leave him home while they go on vacation. But no sooner are they gone, when Dr. Robotnik comes back, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search of an emerald that has the power to both build and destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.
