Something in the Dirt: Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead return to their roots

The filmmaking duo of Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead have earned a solid fan base over the last several years, starting out with the indie horror films Resolution, Spring, and The Endless, contributing to the anthologies V/H/S: Viral and The Twilight Zone, getting their hands on a bigger budget for Synchronic (starring Anthony Mackie), and even landing a Marvel gig, as they're currently directing episodes of the upcoming Disney Plus series Moon Knight. But even though they're working on larger projects now, they haven't forgotten where they came from, and they're going back to their roots with a film called Something in the Dirt.

Unfortunately, that is everything we know about Something in the Dirt at this time. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it's

billed as a return to their DIY indie origins seen in features like Resolution (2012) and Spring (2014).

The film is already in post-production. It's produced by Benson and Moorhead's longtime collaborator David Lawson, under their Rustic Films banner.

Something in the Dirt is part of XYZ Films' new U.S. film distribution operation, which is headed up by James Emanuel Shapiro, who was previously an executive at Drafthouse Films and Neon.

We'll keep you updated on Something in the Dirt as more is revealed about it. Right now, all we can do is confirm that it exists, and that's all a lot of horror fans need to know to start getting excited. There is more Benson and Moorhead horror on the way.

I can't count myself among the Benson and Moorhead fans at this time, because the only one of their movies I have seen is Resolution. I gave it a couple tries and just couldn't get into it either time. But I'm still interested in watching their other movies. I'll get around to it soon.
