Netflix has unleashed the first trailer for the upcoming horror series THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE. Created, directed, and executive produced by OCULUS and DOCTOR SLEEP helmer Mike Flanagan, the new show inspired by the 1959 gothic horror novel of the same name by Shirley Jackson looks to blend atmospheric awe and eranged apparitions for a full-on family drama. For anyone who feels that they've lived in a haunted house, I must warn you, that some of what you're about to see may hit close to home. After all, not everything that lurks in the shadows is a figment of your imagination. Trust me, some houses are just born bad.
Here's the official synopsis for the series:
A modern reimagining of Shirley Jackson’s iconic novel, The Haunting of Hill House explores a group of siblings who, as children, grew up in what would go on to become the most famous haunted house in the country. Now adults, and forced back together in the face of tragedy, the family must finally confront the ghosts of their past — some of which still lurk in their minds while others may actually be stalking the shadows of Hill House. Created, directed and executive-produced by horror mastermind Mike Flanagan (Hush, Oculus, Gerald’s Game), The Haunting of Hill House is a complex family drama wrapped in a chilling horror story. Trevor Macy serves as executive producer alongside Flanagan. Meredith Averill acts as co-showrunner and executive producer. Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank executive produce, as well.
Starring McKenna Grace (GIFTED, THE BAD SEED), Carla Gugino (GERALD'S GAME, WATCHMEN), Michiel Huisman (GAME OF THRONES, TREME), Timothy Hutton (THE GOOD SHEPARD, BEAUTIFUL GIRLS), Violet McGraw (LOVE, READY PLAYER ONE), Victoria Pedretti (SOLE, UNCOVERING EDEN), THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE plans to open its doors on October 12th, serving as a delicious treat for horror fans prior to the Halloween rush.
