As the spooky season quickly approaches, the Solar Opposites are looking to put their spin on the holiday of Halloween like countless television shows before them. Hulu has released a trailer for the first Solar Opposites Halloween Special, which you can check out above! Filled to the brim with the show’s offbeat humour and dark sci-fi magic (as well as an appearance from the Crypt Keeper), the trailer looks like a ghostly good time.

Solar Opposites was created by Justin Roiland and Mike McMahan and centers around a group of aliens who crash land in suburban America after fleeing their exploding home-world. In between adjusting to life on Earth, Korvo (Justin Roiland), Terry (Thomas Middleditch), Jesse (Mary Mack), and Yumyulack (Sean Giambrone) must protect Pupa, a living super-computer who will one day evolve into its true form and terraform the Earth. The third season of the series debuted on Hulu earlier this summer and a fourth season is already on the way. Given the people involved in its creation, Solar Opposites obviously has similarities with Rick and Morty, but I think the series has developed its own style and mythology over the last few seasons. Which series is your favourite?

Co-created by Justin Roiland (Rick & Morty) and Mike McMahan (ex-writer’s assistant on Rick & Morty), Solar Opposites centers around a team of four aliens who escape their exploding home world only to crash land into a move-in ready home in suburban America,” reads the official synopsis. “They are evenly split on whether Earth is awful or awesome. Korvo (Justin Roiland) and Yumyulack (Sean Giambrone) only see the pollution, crass consumerism, and human frailty while Terry (Thomas Middleditch) and Jesse (Mary Mack) love humans and all their TV, junk food and fun stuff. Their mission: protect the Pupa, a living super computer that will one day evolve into its true form, consume them and terraform the Earth.

As the trailer says, the Solar Opposites Halloween Special will debut on Hulu on October 3rd.
