With television productions being shuttered due to the coronavirus pandemic and hearing news almost everyday of delays, this next bit of news is refreshing. TNT has announced that their TV adaptation of SNOWPIERCER will actually premiere two weeks earlier than originally anticipated. You can catch the series premiere on May 17th, up from its original May 31st launch date. Check out the latest official trailer at the top of this story.
Snowpiercer is based on the 2013 film of the same name from Oscar winner Bong Joon Ho, who gained more mainstream exposure when his film PARASITE took the world by storm last year and eventually went on to win Best Picture at this year's Academy Awards. The film version starred Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, Tilda Swinton & Ed Harris and dived into a future world where a failed climate-change experiment has killed all life except for the lucky few who boarded the "Snowpiercer", a train that travels around the globe. Front his escape, a new class system emerges.
The television adaptation stars Jennifer Connelly & Daveed Diggs and is set over seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland. The series centers on the reminants of humanity, who inhabit a gigantic, perpetually-moving train that circles the globe. While Bong Joon Ho isn't serving as a writer or director on the series, he is on board as an executive producer.
I actually enjoyed this movie a lot and the TV version has peaked my interest a bit.I know the series has seen some delays but I'm interested in finally seeing if the show can live up to the film in any way.
