Snake Eyes, the silent commando and fan favorite character made famous by Hasbro's G.I.Joe property is getting his own movie! The project is moving quickly into development courtesy of Paramount Pictures, with BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and THE HUNTSMAN: WINTER'S WAR scribe Evan Spiliotopoulos set to pen the script. Brian Goldner will produce, among others.
The Snake Eyes character was first introduced in the 1980s as a standout of Hasbro and Marvel Comics’ relaunch of the popular toyline, known to many as G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero. The character is widely known for being one of the coolest characters in the G.I. Joe universe, as many find his silence and stealth to be just as intriguing as he is deadly. In the past, he'd shared a relationship with Scarlett, the team's only female member, and would often set out on solo missions while in the company of his pet wolf, Timber. Throughout the series, Snake Eyes would often square off against Storm Shadow, a member of the enemy faction, Cobra. As it turns out, Storm Shadow is the silent assassin's blood brother. Dun dun dunnnnn!
In the past, Snake Eyes has appeared as part of two G.I. Joe-related films, released by Paramount: G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA (2009) and G.I. JOE: RETALIATION (2013), with Ray Park slipping into the characters smoky, blakc kevlar and stylish visor.
Yo, I used to play with G.I. Joe figures ALL THE TIME, when I was young. I would often put them in my freezer, wait until the container was cold, then throw them from my roof to see who survived. Snake Eyes always remained intact, proving that he is indeed on bad mother shut your mouth!
What do you think about the idea of creating a solo film around Snake Eyes? Will he remain silent throughout the entire movie? Will Timber be a part of the action? What other characters would you like to see support Snake Eyes for his solo outing? Let us know in the comments section below. Yo, Joe!
