You may not be able to teach an old dog new tricks, but THE EXPENDABLES franchise has proven it doesn’t f@cking matter because sometimes old dogs can roll over and fetch like nobody’s business. In other words, Sylvester Stallone and the gang continue to kick ass and blow junk up better than anyone working today, and they will continue to do so with the announced EXPENDABLES 4 which is aiming for a 2018 release date, a release Stallone intends on making.
The Italian Stallion took to Facebook the other day to not only remind fans of the irony around his dislike of heights, but to inform the world that he will indeed be heading off soon to start pumping some iron and begin work on the fourth film.
Whether or not a fourth film was on the way was up in the air after the lackluster box office take of the third film. The movie did well globally, but failed to come even close to the $103 million and $85 million domestic take of the first two films, ending with only $39 million. But if this group of face-punchers and building-destructors has proven anything it’s that they don’t stay down so easy, and will bring the world what it desperately needs one way or the other.
Though I didn’t hate the third movie by any means, the PG-13 rating and overstuffed cast didn’t provide for the thrills I was looking for. However, Stallone saying that he plans to provide something different in this outing gives me hope we will see a much more refined cast, and maybe a few additions to the cast that weren’t able to make it into the first three flicks. Did someone say Steven Seagal? No? Oh, must’ve been the wind.
EXPENDABLES 4 will begin filming this year aiming for a 2018 release. Stay tuned for all casting news as it unfolds!
