Tim Burton’s stop-motion animation pic FRANKENWEENIE comes alive at the box office next week and in preparation for its release, Disney has released six retro “monster movie” posters to hype the film. They’re all really cool and feature a number of the “creatures” that will be brought back to life in the film. I actually received all six of these in a postcard-sized pack when I went to see the unfortunate mess known as HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA over the weekend and they were the best thing about that whole experience.
I know there’s a lot of vitriol over Burton’s recent string of films, but I think FRANKENWEENIE has potential to be more in line with the director we love. The simple fact that it’s stop-motion AND black and white has me all kinds of intrigued, so here’s to hoping it hits the mark. Check out our review here.

Here’s the synopsis:
From creative genius Tim Burton (“Alice in Wonderland,” The Nightmare Before Christmas”) comes “Frankenweenie,” a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.
FRANKENWEENIE sparks theaters to life on October 5, 2012.
